Our organization is led and controlled by our member institutions and our leaders determine the vision and priorities for our collective work. We invite congregations who share our vision to walk with us and explore becoming a formal member and being part of a powerful movement for personal and communal transformation.
THE EXPLORATORY PROCESS:
Organizing is important and serious work. We encourage congregations to go through an exploratory process to understand the opportunities we provide and the commitment that is required. We provide three formal sessions for all congregations exploring membership that provide an opportunity for authentic decision- making.
CRITERIA FOR EFFECTIVE PARTICIPATION IN EXPLORATORY PROCESS
- Clergy presence;
- Five-person core team;
- Core team composed of congregations leaders with: vision of justice; genuine interest in organizing; trusted leaders of congregation; and represent the diversity of the congregation.
- Coherent communication: background briefing; registration; prepared reflections; video presentations.
Following the three sessions, participants in the process should be prepared to make a recommendation regarding becoming a formal member in CCISCO. It is encouraged that participants “report out” to their congregation and the appropriate decision-making body regarding their experience and recommendation to the congregational decision making body (pastor; parish council; et al).
