Youth

What We Do

Over the past seven years youth all over the county have been working to improve education, jobs, health care, and recreational opportunities in hopes of making Contra Costa County a “Youth Friendly County.”

Our youth organizing project empowers youth by giving them the necessary tools to create positive change in their communities.

CCISCO Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) work in groups of 10-15 youth from your city to:

· Choose an issue
· Conduct research
· Host a big community meeting with key decision makers who agree to resolve your concern
· Talk to newspapers, TV and radio stations
· Attend field trips
· Attend Leadership retreats

In the past, CCISCO Youth Organizing has won victories across Contra Costa County and has created after school programs, youth centers, job opportunities and a better quality of education.
